ahhh, the Wedding Season

Well, summer is now officially upon us (though you couldn't tell yesterday ugh!) and that means it is my favorite time of the year, Wedding Season! Yes, I do weddings year round, but the end of June starts my busy Wedding Season and I LOVE it! People (you know who you are) ask me what I love so much about weddings. I don't really have an exact answer and my answer will probably change depending on my most recent wedding but I like the emotion, fun, nervous energy, glitz and even the stress. When it all comes together and the bride, groom and their families are so happy and I have helped make their dreams come true. It is amazing!

I had two events this weekend, both on the water with incredible views. Sundays was the last minute booking I mentioned last time. It was a going away party, full of lots of emotion and fun and I met some really great people. Saturday I started something else that I have never done in the same year before, two sister's weddings. Many times I have done siblings weddings, but they have always been at least a year apart. So Erik (my assistant) and I did Connie and Darryl's reception and I am really looking forward to working with Maria and Scott this September. A tip of my hat to Sam their very gracious Father, very very nice!

Speaking of Erik, he worked with me on Saturday until very late (or really early depending on how you look at it) and then got a plane to Mexico with a bunch of Junior High kids from his church. They are helping out a local church and doing anything they can for the town, very very cool! Erik's band is also working on their new CD and touring this summer. I will miss him, but am very proud of him!

I have two events this weekend and next time, I'll talk about how to have "The Best Wedding Reception Ever".

Number Two

Howdy and Hello (I like to start emails to friends out that way and I am not quite sure why??), I promised to talk a little about my family today. My immediate family is my wife of 7+ years Cathy and our almost 15 month old daughter, Madilynn. Here is a recent picture of them:

Ain't they cute? Yummmmmmm! :)

I know I did it above, but don't you hate it when people like me refer to their kid as being "15 months old"? Why can't I say "just over a year" or "almost a year and a half". Well I tell you it's not my fault and I have a darn good excuse. It's the whole baby industrial complex. They start out by referring to the pregnancy progress in weeks (the last time I measured anything by weeks was "dating" in Jr. High), it used to be trimesters but not so much now. Then they get you to cross all the way to the dark side by labeling all the baby clothes in months; 0-3m, 6-9m, 12m, 18m etc. Next thing I know I am telling y'all I have a 15 month old. I can't wait until she is 18 mont errr a year and a half ummm 2. Two is much easier to type.

As the title to this blog suggests I am in fact a Wedding DJ in the Seattle area and quite proud of it. More about how I got into this and some good stories in future posts.

I had two Weddings (ceremonies and receptions) this past week (one was on Monday!) and something happened that has never happened to me before. We had the same photographer at both events! Her name is April Greer she is super nice, easy to work with and her pictures are amazing! She even posted some from our events on her blog (look at the 6/19 and 6/16 posts). To quote Madi's friend Jack, April ROCKS!

Have I mentioned that I love last minute bookings?! Yeah!

First Post

Welcome to my blog.

I have flirted (can you flirt with a computer?? should I be flirting with a computer, hmmm we'll have to ask Cathy about that, but I digress...) with doing a blog for a number of years. There are probably a number of started blogs out there in cyberspace someplace or another. The problem is I am not a writer, I have never kept a journal and I can't type very fast. So you may ask yourself, Self (I am a bit of a smart-aleck thanks Dad) why do a blog? Well, I want people to know who I am and what I am about and why they should hire me (us) to be a major part of their special event.

Next time I'll talk about my family and a recent wedding or two.
